Free Baltic Street Adventure Playground Tours
Wildside in Scotland is organising a programme of visits for play workers, facility managers, educationalists and all those with an interest in free play outdoors to Baltic Street Adventure Playground, one of the most inspiring play projects in Scotland.
Baltic Street Adventure Playground is a supervised adventure playground for children from 6 to 12 years which has grown from a temporary project in Dalmarnock, started in 2013. Regularly working with 250 local children, the organisation is child-led, with children choosing what to do and get involved in which includes everything from the day-to-day management to the development of the site, to the appointment of the play workers.
Part of its increasing resilience and reflective practice has grown from its investment in relationships with families and neighbours. This has resulted in a community culture which has enormous embedded value and with the potential to be an active and critical part of the areas future growth for many years to come.
Commenting on the forthcoming visits, Judi Legg, Wildside in Scotland said: “Baltic Street Adventure Playground is a huge inspiration and well worth visiting. We are planning our visits for July and I would encourage those interested to please get in touch. Remember these are FREE and are during the school holidays, so places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.”
